Hurricane season is underway — what Doral residents should know

The city published its storm-readiness checklist, and the PGA Tour is moving Doral back to March.

Lead story

Hurricane season officially started yesterday and runs through Nov. 30. The City of Doral is urging residents to prepare now, before a storm has a name. The city's guide covers assembling a supply kit, understanding local flood zones, reviewing shelter and evacuation routes, and signing up for emergency alerts. South Florida is one of the most storm-active regions in the country, and city officials stress that early preparation is the single most effective step residents can take. The guide was published June 1 and is available on the city's website.

PGA Tour moves Doral back to its old March slot

The Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral will move back to March next year as part of a PGA Tour schedule reshuffle. The tournament had previously shifted away from its traditional Florida-swing window. The return to March restores the event to a familiar spot on the calendar for South Florida golf fans.
